Kim (1990) recently graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven at the department Man & Identity. She is specialized in interior design with a focus on the interaction between space and humanity. Within this context, she is keen on finding out what people need, to feel comfortable in a specific space, physical as well as spiritual level. There is an urge to get people involved with their environment, to look at the world unbiased and in wonder, helping them to discover beauty.
Being a sensitive designer, she works intuitively with regard to her process: starting with a concept in mind, that is deepened by experimenting with images, color and materials. The ‘layers’ theme is the thread running through her work. The fascination for this particular theme originated from her fantasy to combine realities, thus creating environments that didn’t exist before. The results are innovative, with surprising and unpredictable twists.
Since her internship at Christiane Müller, Kim has developed a strong interest in surface materials through creating embossments, patterns and new colour schemes. Kim aims to combine her interests in 2d and 3d, using her skills as a interior and pattern designer, with a strong interest in material research.
